Get Targeted Website Traffic
Everyone who wants more visitors, ready to buy your products or services, raise your hands! If you've got a website which doesn't seem to be getting the right kind of visitors, odds are that you're not getting the right kind of attention from the search engines. In order to get targeted traffic, that is, visitors who are
looking for specifically what you have to offer, you must first understand how the search engines rank your web pages. The search engines are getting more sophisticated in 'reading' your web pages, with more refined algorithms which determine which websites and pages are of the most relevance to the search criteria. These days, relevancy is the name of the game.
In the past, many website owners slapped up some of those farm banner ads that had nothing to do with their products or services. These days, this is most definitely not the way to get targeted traffic to your websites. In fact, when the search engine spider comes by with its roving eye and sees a variety of unrelated content, ads and few informational links, that spider may just cross you off its list for next month's round. Not worth the time. This can also result in your entire website being ignored altogether. Your search engine rankings will never get any better.
Today, content is king. You want to stuff your website with as much quality content as you can get. The search engines rank sites with the most content and worthy information first. The new search engine algorithms do a good job of detecting the bottom line on your content. Keywords are an important factor in determining the value of the information your site has to offer. If you have an article describing the process of getting out of debt, your article should include as many related phrases as possible, indicating that the information is focused on that topic. For example, terms like 'debt consolidation', 'credit counseling', 'getting out of debt' and 'pay down debt' are obviously part of the lexicon of getting rid of debt.
While content is king, in order to get targeted traffic, you must also take the trouble to organize the material on each page of your website. This will take some effort, but you will get more traffic as a result. Let's look at another example to better define your objectives.
Let's say your site sells dietary supplements. One page contains an article on dieting to lose weight. Everything else on that page should contain resources, such as books and dieting aids, as well as links to other information, and ads that are precisely geared towards that audience. When the search engine spider comes by, it analyzes the content of that page. This type of page organization translates as a page that is of high value to the searcher. This is what makes it get to the top of the search engine results. The end result is you get targeted traffic flowing into your website.
Remember, a single sales pitch page won't do the trick any longer. You need quality content and links to related businesses that aren't in direct competition with you, also providing quality information. Reciprocal links are also desirable.
Following these practices will generate website traffic, raising your web page rankings with the search engines. Going over every page of your site, as described above, will get targeted traffic, resulting in increased income. Which is what we all want!
